Collection Title: Dandy

Bio

My name is Charlotte Antry and before coming to college I worked in a sewing store in my hometown that helped grow my knowledge of construction and craftsmanship in what I produce. Since then I’ve worked as a bridal stylist since my freshman year, helping my brides find their perfect assumable for the most memorable day of their lives. I am also a TA in our fashion studio at NCSU helping students with any sewing or machine questions they might have. I’ve also completed two internships in interior design and custom suiting, which strengthened my understanding of materials, tailoring, and the intricacies of design. These opportunities have shaped my approach to creating thoughtful, detail-oriented work, and graduating this December  I’m excited to bring this perspective to a future role in product development or design.

Collection Concept

The inspiration for this collection comes from traditional and vintage men’s dress wear that will be reworked into women’s event wear. Each look is modeled off a single article of men’s dress clothing from a reworked collared shirt to exaggerated suit jackets. The collections name comes from a word that was commonly used in the 1800s to describe a well dressed man who was devoted to style and their appearance. The collection has an understated neutral leaning color palette while adding amplified details. Although it is a women’s collection it can be worn by anyone who wants a feeling of understated elegance and drama while attending a lavish event. The collection is intended for the wearer to feel a heightened sense of self confidence while showing the freedom of expression. Ultimately the Dandy collection is to inspire a feeling of luxury.
