Collection Title: Earth and Ether

Bio

To escape the heavy demands of Elementary School, Chloe often found a creative escape in the best birthday gift ever; her Melissa and Doug fashion runway sketchbook. She would spend hours hyper-fixating on every minor detail of her sketches until they were almost perfect (to her, they could always be even more perfect). In high school, she took her designs to the big leagues and spent her summers in New York taking precollege classes at The Fashion Institute of Technology. It was then she realized this was more than just a passion or a dead end hobby, but would become an important aspect of her life. Upon entering college, her designs have never “walked off” paper. It wasn’t until attending NC state that she first touched a sewing machine, and learning to command it with confidence was a great challenge of this past semester. Starting off feeling like an imposter, it has been truly rewarding to see her own two dimensional design become a three dimensional wearable piece of art. She is grateful to The Wilson School of Textiles at NC State and the amazingly talented and supportive community she found in Threads.

Collection Concept

EARTH: represents stability, grounding, abundance, and nourishment, embodying the concrete, physical world. It is linked to a deep connection with nature, both externally and within the human body. ETHER: symbolizes the divine, the subtle, and the all-pervading essence of existence, connecting one to universal wisdom, intuition, and higher consciousness.
This collection captures the essence of a wandering spirit—grounded in the natural world yet forever reaching toward the mystical. “Earth and Ether” is an ode to feminine freedom, intuition, and connection with nature, spirit, and self. It blends the rustic charm of earthy bohemia—through rich earth and gem tones, textures, and layers—with a delicate, ethereal whimsicality expressed through ivories, light, flowing fabrics, and freeing silhouettes, creating the perfect fusion of Earth and Ether.
