Collection Title: Losing Time

Bio

Kate Turner began exploring fashion through sketching as a child and later taught herself to hand-sew after receiving her first sewing kit from her mother. In high school, she experimented with free-hand fabric painting and received her first
formal sewing instruction. She was mentored by her teacher who assisted her in applying to the Wilson College of Textiles, where she will graduate in May 2026. Kate has since completed three internships in New York City, New York in fabric wholesale, bridal, and couture fashion. She focuses on women’s formalwear, bridal, and costume design, drawing inspiration from her love of art and the duality within fashion. Kate especially admires how clothing can both complement and empower the wearer while serving as a creative outlet to express deeper ideas and emotions. After graduation, Kate plans to pursue a career in women’s formalwear, bridal fashion, or costume design.

Collection Concept

The ebbs and flows of life often inflict a common perception that time moves both quickly and slowly at once. This collection strives to abstractly personify this familiar feeling, unifying individuals through relatability. These pieces are catered to fashion-forward, creative women, ages 20-30, who prioritize individuality, craftsmanship, and see fashion as an outlet of self-expression. They attend formal events and seek conceptual luxury over fast fashion. This collection balances strength and softness, embodying both confidence and emotion. Fringe, glitter, chain details, unique free-hand fabric painting skills, along with an assortment of cotton, polyester, plain-weave, mesh, chantilly, and metallic fabrics,
add depth, dimension, and glamour. These elements complement one another, collaborating to bring these lavish designs to life. Themes of melting time, chains of time, and an overall sense of distorted perception are all featured to convey the long days and short years that led up to this designer’s senior collection.
