Bio:

Sydney is a senior at NC State, majoring in Fashion Development and Product Management while also minoring in Dance. School in the traditional sense has always been a challenge as Sydney has always been drawn to tactile experiences. Looking for an escape from the routine of core classes, Sydney discovered a talent for sketching, and that has led her to sewing and winning several awards in various competitions for her garments. After attending an NC State Wilson College of Textiles open house in the sixth grade, Sydney was astonished that this type of school existed in Raleigh. Three years later she attended a week-long Summer Textile Exploration Program (STEP) creating the winning design for that week. Sydney looks forward to creating and bringing to life her designs for this year’s show believing this will be another step towards her goals in design.

Collection Description:

While traveling in Arizona, Sydney was awestruck by the constant changing beauty of her surroundings. The incredible shapes, angles, and colors created in nature were inspiring. Sydney’s collection reflects this balance that I found using various materials of different weights and textures, along with metal and leather.
